
On 29 May, Coselva participated in the 42nd General Assembly of the Federation of Agrifood Cooperatives of Catalonia (FCAC). This event brought together almost 300 representatives to showcase the economic, social and territorial strength of Catalan agrifood cooperatives.
This was a pivotal event for Catalan agrifood cooperatives.
Presided over by the Catalan Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food, Òscar Ordeig, the event reviewed the sector’s progress and set out future challenges. FCAC President Ramon Sarroca emphasised the importance of cooperativism as "a driver that safeguards the social fabric through local economies and environmental commitment".
Figures that underpin growth
- Total turnover: €2.320 billion in 2023, up 1.8 % versus 2022 and 21.7 % above the four-year average.
- Scale: 185 member cooperatives, 32,214 producing members, active in 33 counties.
- Average turnover: €12 million per cooperative, reflecting the ongoing process of business consolidation.
- Sector share: cooperatives produce 74 % of Catalonia’s olive oil, 71 % of its almonds, and 66 % of its hazelnuts, as well as other key products.
